How it works
Three steps to your CPL

Book online
Pick a class below and reserve your spot. It takes a couple of minutes, and you can pay online.
2
Take the class
One Saturday or Sunday with a certified instructor, classroom plus range time. You leave with your certificate the same day.
3
Apply at your county clerk
Take your certificate to the county clerk, submit your application and fingerprints, and your license comes in the mail.

Amy Lucas
Founder, USCCA Training Counselor and Certified Firearms Instructor
Amy spent 20 years in law enforcement, including time as a field training officer, SWAT team leader and firearms instructor for the State of Michigan. Today she teaches CPL and handgun classes built around one on one coaching, and she still works armed protection when she is not on the range.
She founded Steel and Stilettos to give women and first-time shooters a place to learn from someone who has carried a gun professionally her whole career.

Questions students ask
Is this class state approved?
Yes. Every class listed here meets the Michigan CPL training requirements, and your certificate is valid for your application at the county clerk.
Do I need my own gun?
No. Loaner firearms and ammunition are available for the range portion. Check the class listing or ask before class if you have questions.
Do you welcome beginners and women?
Yes. Beginners are welcome, and we teach a lot of women who are new to firearms. You will be coached one on one at your own pace.
What should I bring?
A valid state ID, closed-toe shoes, and a way to take notes. Everything else is provided or available at the range.
When do I get my certificate?
The same day, at the end of class. You can apply for your CPL right away.
